Christopher Hitchens (born 1949) is an author, journalist and literary critic. Currently living in Washington, D.C., he has been a columnist at Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, World Affairs, The Nation, Slate, Free Inquiry, and a variety of other media outlets. Hitchens is also a political observer, whose books — the latest being "God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" — have made him a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits.

In 2009 Hitchens was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "25 most influential liberals in U.S. media." The same article noted, though, that he would "likely be aghast to find himself on this list" and that he "styles himself a radical", not a liberal.

  • I'm glad he doesn't button up his shirt.

  • who else to vote with? McCain? Palin? He voted for the most likely to win who wasn't a complete idiot as well. Obama was the only alternative.

  • R.I.P. to this titan of intellect.

  • @o0Loucypher0o He made a half-hearted endorsement of Obama a week before the election when it was obvious that McCain was going down in flames.

  • @KayBeeEee1983

Russians, Germans, Ottomans, Japanese, British, etc. did it, so why can't we!?

The logic (or rather, the lack there of) behind this is simply astounding.

  • Thank goodness for public intellectuals like Hitchens, Dawkins, Michio Kaku, and Neils Degrasse Tyson. We need more of them.

  • Did he just say he voted Obama in part, because he was black?

  • @KayBeeEee1983 You are a moron and a Holocaust Denier !

Read AMERICAN HOLOCAUST by David E Stannard

  • @jecleveland1 There's no proof that anyone infected any Native Americans with small pox. Why the hell would the Natives even accept blankets from the British during a war anyway? Think about that for a few minutes....

We didn't send them to internment camps, you fucking retard. Ever heard of Oklahoma? Before it became a state, it was called "Indian Territory". Even if we did send them to camps, that's not genocide.

  • @KayBeeEee1983 Yes we did. we passed out small pox infcted blankets to the indians, we rounded them up and sent them hundreds sometimes thousands of miles to live on reservations ( aka internment camps).

  • Do you get all your history info from movies? That was during the French and Indian War and the Mohicans were allied with the French. The British instigated the war. Most "Americans" (You probably don't realize that the USA didn't exist back then) didn't even want to fight in it. It's no surprise that you generalize all Americans based on a miniscule portion of the population, under the authority of the British Empire.
