  • Dermoid cysts are ovarian tumors that arise from primordial germ cells that grow abnormally. As these cells are capable of becoming any cell in the body, they differentiate into many different types of tissues as they grow. A dermoid contains cells from all three cells lines - endoderm, mesoderm, and ectoderm. Typically they contain hair, skin, fat, and in some cases bone structures - most commonly tooth and jaw structures. They are not a pregnancy, and do not make HCG.

  • @t11par Dermoids come from the maternal germ cell line in the ovary. They were never a fetus or a pregnancy.

  • wow-i had 2 cysts, one 16cm one 18cm..i went threw hell. But am ok now-1year post op

  • Was this a start of a ectopic pregnancy or fetus since it had hair, skin, a molar in it? These internal body clips amaze me.
