A Better way to Bridle

This is NOT dangerous and it's especially great for very large horses. Of course, the horse used in this video was my horse and she was well trained to keep her head down for me. For me, a 15.5 hh horse is big LOL. Putting the right hand under the the head and over the nose is especially important for control. I would be very interested in seeing what you think is a safe way to bridle.

i dont like to put the reigns around the neck before i put the bridle on. if they bolt or get away hey could become entangled in the reigns and bridle and get hurt. otherwise i do the same way :) (sept im 5 foot with a 17hh horse so its a little different XD)

If she had tried to take off, I could have stopped her with just the reins around her neck. I feel that the reins being around their neck can help with preventing them from getting away from you because you can use them to control your horses movements. Also, if they're not around the neck, where are they? if they're on the ground, the horse could step on them which could result in broken reins and/or the horse hurting himself.

Dangerous... this is ok when you've a single horse that you work with every day... but in the remudas I've worked in, you do not get in front of the horse to bridle, you do not go under the neck to get around the horse or for any other reason, and your right hand under head technique does not work when you work with animals over 18 hands as their heads are half as large as your body. Safety.

its hard to find confined space in a pasture :P its not that the horse i have is going to bolt, i just choose to hold the soft cheap lead rope around the neck rather than expensive riens that are attached to a bit and bridle. if the horse Does happen to bolt there is no danger of him becoming entagled in the case that i cant get control of him.

If you have a horse tha is likely to bolt, why are you not bridling in the stall or other confined situation??

I understand your point. I hang them in the crook of my arm. I have seen a horse spook and rip away and get tangled, broke his bit and trashed his bridle. It really depends on the horse (as with jsut about everything :P ) some horses will get away from you whether you have em by the neck or not so if i dont know the horse i hold the lead rope around the neck and the reins in my right arm
