Macha is pronounced 'Maha.' That is HER real name. The SIGN cat Macha is an alternate form of Macha the Temptress and when she is data drained, her data is reformed into Mia.

It's Macha, but it's pronounced as Maha because of the name's origin: Gaelic (Ireland) Macha is the Morrigan's mother aspect from her 3 aspects Maiden, mother and Crone. I'm guessing the maiden is Aura, while Macha is the mother, and Morgana is the Crone. if you're interested, look up Irish Mythology :D

@KazenoArkadia At any rate, the creator of the game had a love. She died, and Aura was meant to be their "daughter" while the center of "the World" was meant to be the "womb". Morganna's soul purpose was to gather information from other characters to help her develop. This is why when she finds that upon Aura's completion she will have no purpose, she begins hurting Tsukasa for trying to find the Key of the Twilight. She wanted to keep Aura from completing.

@ciaron23 Aura is a creation of the creator the game. While the players play the game and develope their own personalities, Aura is formed. Morganna is trying to stop Aura from developing, because when Aura is complete, Morganna will have no purpose. This is why his guardian was at first kind, then started "punishing" him for wanting to figure out when he can't leave the world. (I know, I'm calling Tsukasa male when in real life she is female. I am referring to her game form.)

@dothackfan55 In a matter of speaking Maha is a precursor of Macha but at the same time is also Mia if you do the end-game dungeon of .hack//quarantine you see Maha there and after you defeat her she turns into Mia

This is just what i think so pls do not get upset but i think macha is a he and when he died being a data file or vires or whatever he is was remade in to a diffrent from to help protect the world by auar then reborn as mia as most know to be a cat person that knows how to hack data gates and looks like a girl. thats what i think any way

Macha sounds like a guy in the last episode of //Signs. And Macha as the smaller cait sith black mage type in the anime, if female, would be quite the tomboy. Not even the eyes look female like as Mia. Even when Macha has the new look in the final episode like that of Mia, Macha still looks male, not to mention the flat chest vs. the Mia in the game so I'd like to point out that Macha is male, Mia is female. Did Macha have a sex change, I think so.
