Smoking in Pregnancy Linked to Psychotic Symptoms in Kids

The new research, published in the October issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry, doesn't prove that smoking during pregnancy causes the psychotic behavior, but it does suggest a link.

In the study of 6,356 children in the United Kingdom, more than 11 percent of the 12-year-olds appeared to have definite or suspected symptoms of psychosis....

...."The researchers couldn't find any link between maternal marijuana use and psychotic symptoms in children among the few women who reported using the drug during pregnancy."

That is so dumb, you just said that Marijuana causes permanent problems in teens but not adults. Don't you think a baby is closer to being a teen than an adult? Sounds like you people are burnouts.

@psycheeros3704 Oh my, taking things out of context. This does not say it is safe for babies. It does suggest in moderation it will not harm a fetus. The reason it harms children and teens is because the receptors in their brains start forming in earnest after birth and hit their peek of formation in the late teens. Since marijuana blocks receptors, it can harm a brain still forming them during the peek years from childhood to young adulthood. Burn outs don't read studies...and neither do you!

'ciggs' are known to harm a fetus as is booze. the research seems to indicate if not used heavily, pot does not harm a fetus. i did not make this up. i found information and shared it. the link for the information is in the detail box if you want to do some research on your own. and i don't think anyone in the study used 4 ounces a day. 4? who does that each day. no one i ever met.

your point was just to say it's ok to smoke weed if your pregnant. well buddy it ant I know a person that smoked ciggs and 4 onces a fucking day while pregnant her girl died still birth two days befor here dew date. you tell me if your prgnenet and smoked 4 onces a day if you know what that is that it wouldint have an efect on the baby.
