Did you ever think that maybe the "welfare mom" was truly a believer in conservative values and maybe, just maybe she acknowledged that she didn't make good choices in her life, which is why she was on welfare in the first place?

@mewpoet If you look at history, the great idea that these social programs is only a hand up......is pure bunk. There are families that have spent generations on the dole, they do not want to move up, content with sponging off the government. I will say it again, you pump out a little bastard, do it on your own dime. If you cannot raise the kid to a minimum standard, uh, duh, you lose custody. I do not feel these weeh-fare programs continue.

@tickyul so if I understand you correctly, you want me to take care of some woman's child that you have decided got pregnant on purpose? Think about what you just said. I grew up on welfare. I later served in the military, got my BA and now make more than 75k a year. Welfare is a system that can be abused, just like any system, but it does help people. Some people need an incentive to want to help themselves which in turn allows them to produce in society. Remember that as you cut programs.

Yes, welfare is one of those programs that needs to be ELIMINATED, ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER GOVERNMENT SCAMS. I would start with all of the WOMEN who get pregnant on purpose to get on the government dole (and/ or to trap the man). That's right, you get pregnant it is on your own dime----no wic, welfare, food stamps, well baby care, medicaid or ANY OF THOSE GOVERNMENT GOODIES. And if you cannot take care of your kids, you lose custody. With my plan, watch the illegitimate births go very very low.

Unless you're some kind of inventor paving the future in some lab, you're most likely a consumer. Artists produce. Doctors consume. Lawyers consume. Police consume. politicians consume. architects produce. I hope you see where Im going with this, I'm not trying to offend anyone or belittle occupations but I see a terribly counter productive society based on the necessity of employment rather than the satisfaction of societal needs.

Thanks for your comments. Always good to see people reading and giving thought. I too seek the answers to everything. But until I Know I can only seek. I can know in the here and now that I am an alcoholic and can act on that realization. No need to believe. You say you "believe" that most people are like me in that they consume... The fact is that you know virtually nothing about me, so why believe? Why not seek to find out? If truth is personal then it cannot be solved for you by others.
