Roadsters combine the convertible feeling with superior comfort. drive it! put the Porsche Boxster and BMW's Z4 through their paces. Both feature a retractable steel roof and are certainly impressive to the eye - but are they actually as fantastic as they look? We examined how they coped with stowing away a golf bag. On the powerplant front,the Boxster had a 2.9-liter mid-engine with 255 hp,while the Z4 we tested was driven by a 3-liter unit delivering 258 hp. Their prices in Germany start at 46,500 euros and 42,900 euros respectively.

My last car was a Z4. My current one is a Boxster. Thank God I made the switch. There is no comparison. The Boxster's roof can be put up or retracted up to 30 mph (sorry DJman230 but you're wrong).

After having owned my Boxster for a few months my desire for a 911 has pretty much evaporated. It's really the perfect sports car in so many ways.

The Zed has a steel retractable hood, but the Boxster has a canvas hood. This means the BMW has a very small boot when the hood is down. However, the Boxsters' canvas hood stows in the middle and it has TWO boots! The Porsche is therefore the most practical of the two.

Also the boxter needs to be still(parked) for the roof to go down unless you buy an extra with the car that can open the roof at 40km/h
