How do you experience the real, unseen Hawaii? Start by heeding the words of Gary Smith, Kauai plantation expert and preservationist. Hint: it involves ignoring guidebooks. Read about one visitor's experience with Gary Smith here: http://www.outriggerhawaii.com/get_lost_in_kauai.aspx
Oh, lovely Kauai.. I was there for 5 weeks, staying at someone's place. Lovely place, calm, peaceful, not touristy at all. It has a few spectacular places like the Grand Canyon and the Napali coast. It has a lot of rain, therefore is very lush. The west coast gets more sunshine though. The mountains are very pretty. Check out Hanalei bay. Gorgeous place. People are like the pace, relaxed and friendly. If you want a safe and peaceful holiday, Kauai is THE place. All the best.
