There's a reason the crowd reacted that way and he sang it again. And honestly, Blake is just as much a leggiero as Florez is. Florez, however, has more purity and ease to his voice, especially his amazing high notes, which are about as far from "crying" as you could possibly get.

you may be right...but there is something about this guy that mesmerises. he is not perfect, but i have to say when the whole package is woking like this it is remarkable. look at the ratings given to all his posts on youtube. he is very popular.

this is just technically not well done.. sorry, weak voice, crying top notes, no power... though i like his tembre, i must say he shouldn't sing la Fille du Regiment.. you need a voice like chris merrit or even better rockwell blake to sing this aria

I was there and went back to see it twice later. Juan sang the aria twice all the three times I was there! He is truly amazing!

Man, I was there Monday, he was unbelievably perfect. Pour me rapprocher de Marie was beautiful too. Natalie Dessay was absolutely amazing too. So far it's been the most incredible performance I have seen at the MET, followed by the Barber (also Florez) last season. I couldn't believe when he started singing again, the last time an encore happened was in 1994 in TOSCA (Pavarotti singing E lucevan le stelle). Really amazing!
