richard kelly is a hack that got really lucky with donnie darko original (I suppose due to some help from a certain bunnyman.)

i like the directors cut just because it gives you more time to get to know the characters. all the other changes were pointless though.

The original version, in my opinion, was a much more mysterious and subtle film that was a lot more interesting to interpret. Also, "The Killing Moon" fits the opening sequence much, much better than the INXS track. "I was standing/you were there"? versus "Under blue moon I saw you/ so cruelly you kissed me"? It's not even close.

The Director's Cut managed to ruin this terrific film. Avoid it at all costs!
