its hard comparing two amazing back. (smith, sanders). but i would choose emmit because he never lost the passion for the game like sanders did. true he had a much much better blockers then sanders, but again sanders lost the passion. and if someone loses the passion for football, i dont think he should ever be considered the best. FOOTBALL IS PASSION, and i dont think a guy like sanders should represent what football is. emmit personofies passion, and heart, that why he should be the best

Emmitt was tremendously talented. Was he as physically gifted as Barry Sanders? No. But I'd go so far as to say he was just as good a RUNNING BACK. Sanders has 3 rushes of 2 yards for every one of 20 yards. Emmitt's rushing average was based on CONSISTENCY, which is what wins chamionships. Take the top 8 or 10 or 15 backs of all-time and you really can't say definitively who is better. That air is just too rare...

Its called heart. Mr barry my team sucks, I quit, had no heart! Emmitt wanted to play when his team sucked He loved the game. toughness , low center of gravity heart and Endurance is Emmitt.

jdre1979: Let's point out that Jim Brown ran behind a GREAT off. line, along with other great RBs, who ALSO ran behind great off lines: Eric Dickerson, John Riggins, Larry Csonka, Franco Harris, O.J. Simpson, and Marcus Allen. So can we assume you will also dismiss their accomplishments as well. Bet you won't. Why?? Because you just HATE the Dallas Cowboys, and will always find fault in anything they ever do.
