  • Under the surcumstances Marshall's drumline is in with their tech only being there once a week, they are not bad. I'm not trying to diss any drumline here, I just trying to get two points out. 1. Don't judge WVU's line by some of the stuff we play that is more traditional. 2. Wheelchair has only been around for about 15 years. The Steve Gadd video that the beggining of this cadence is based off of is what Wheelchair is based off of. Read Gusseck's note from the author for it.

  • @siux4u There's plenty on here already. Go look it up for yourself.

  • @steeliho If I had any pride? I take pride in my school just fine and I don't have to try and mirror a professional group because I've marched corps (Btw, idiot, DCI is not "Professional marching band". It's CORPS and it doesn't have woodwinds.)

3 days is enough for me and for MU...we don't go to college to be marching band majors.

  • @clarkbar225 ...1st of all, if you had any pride, you would wanna mirror a professional marching band. That's why we practice 4 days a week. Also, WVU plays a new show EVERY home game. I guess we're in that 10% asshole

  • Pretty well? I don't believe any college marching band experience should mirror a DCI experience. So yeah, pretty well does it for any college MB who's playing for drunk fans in the seats.

At any rate, Marching Thunder practices 3 days a week for 2 hrs. So maximum 6 hrs/week to teach 275 people. Oh, and if you knew anything you'd probably figure that 90% of college marching bands play 2-3 shows per year. MU and WVU both do 2 shows per season.

  • Is that what you're going for? pretty well? btw, doesn't marshall play the same show all year?

  • Is that the Boogie Cadence?

  • Lets go Pitt.

  • I know man, both school's drumlines get better every year. MU hasn't been good until the past year or 2...before that it was like 97 lol when they did corps style shows. And I know 3 DL guys for WVU, 2 of 'em marched MU in 06, so I have respect for WVU's drumline. Murray Gusseck wrote about EW in the book "Parking Lot Etudes". And the beginning of the cadence I think was influenced by Steve Gadd's tribute to Buddy Rich. Go to Gadd's website, the lick is played over and over on the home page.

  • The end of this cadence is completely original. It is simply a mix of 5, 7, and 9 stroke rolls. A rudiment is a rudiment no matter who plays it. And the body was made up on the spot, it had nothing to do with any corp's previous music or performances. If you know percussion, you know rudiments, so this judgement wouldn't have been made.
