@uniteordie1 Yeah I know my professor got me into Straussianism. The stuff is really cool! He was actually one of the first gen Straussians -he said he went to Leo Strauss's classes and that two of his classmates were Rove and Wolfowitz.
Now as for what you say about an "external threat" -there are a few things like that in Strauss's work but that overly simplifies his thinking and is not within context. Strauss was about a return to virtue-based political philosophy instead of contract theory.

@JohananRaatz Yes you are right but PNAC was where neocons became big. They were all students of straussian philosophy. The need for a threat whether real or percieved to unite america in their values.

They had so much luck with the first moron, they wanted to try another one. After Bush took office they closed the PNAC site, which read thereafter: "Mission Accomplished." Seems they want the rest of the wolrd now.

PNAC was a think tank group put in place to develop America's strategy in the new century, including military action, resource management (oil supply), and defense (as well as other things). Labeling them bad implies sinister acts. I have read their Statement of Principles, its on wikipedia. PNAC is hell bent on America's survival, OR what they believe America needs to survive. Here's an idea, read up and then you decide. Maybe good maybe bad, depends on where you think the future lies.
