Stop resisting your tears and sadness if you wish to cry. See crying as it truly is.. a helpful, natural way for everyone young and old alike to cleanse their souls. Then find something, anything sad (sad movie, song, memory ect) that will trigger your tears. When they start rolling, switch to thinking about the sad events, you wish to mourn over, then let them pour out.

@SanatanaDharmaOM - Mindfulness isn't some practice only for mystics & spiritual practitioners. It's good practice for all people, Buddhist & non - Buddhists alike, whether walking, using a computer / emailing , driving, anything. We'd all be better off practicing it, & probably SAFER !

What was said, I found difficult to concentrate on. The visual part of this video seems like a pop video or TV commercial and distracted me.

@ammasmanjushree
Hi ammasmanjushree, you are always welcome to share and discuss how you understand the teaching. Does not holding on to position means being quiet and not say anything. The way I see it, discussion is an exchange of ideas, an opportunity to promote understanding. Thay always encourage dialogue. I am trying to understand your point of view. If it is the case that you do have a point, then I will gladly take down the video.

One sits in silence to create quiet...to help assist the mind to settle and rest in stillness. In stillness and silence we experience That.
Thich Nhat Hanh meditaties with the Sanga only in silence.
Do you exist in inner stillness of mind, with no thought or judgement? Hmm.

@ammasmanjushree
Hi ammasmanjushree, given that Thay meditates in silence during meditation time. But during a dhamma talk it is okay to listen and be receptive to whatever sounds that are happening in this moment. Whether one is standing , walking, lying down, wherever we happens to go, whatever rise and fall, one silence the inner chatter within. That is the silence he is pointing to. I hope you don't mind me sharing my personal take on his teaching and don't take this to be a judgment.

Thich Nhat Hanh invites inner stillness and an experience of his presentation...however the music you have overlayed onto this dharma talk is totally antithetical...it takes one away from the experience of stillness. Cannot you feel that?

@ammasmanjushree If we are aware of this moment with inner stillness of mind , without the interference of thought and judgement, then we can appreciate whatever sounds that is in this moment. Whether it is the sounds of the bird singing, traffic, the stream, chanting ,or a song, it shouldn't bother us because through full awareness we can embrace what is. It has more to do with the silencing of our inner chatter rather than external sounds. Sounds are always happening within & without.
