  • This was year number 2 for the feathers.

  • With all due respect to JO North Hardin Wiped the field with them. They just could not handle a Class A band winning it all. JO was sloppy with an easy show. Come on winning CoC with What a feeling? Yeah flash dance reminds me of a championship music selection. How many years did they use the feathers?

  • @menthar

I think it's time for Johnny O to bring the feathers back....LOL

  • I don't think anybody will debate you on that one. Meade County was the finest playing band I can think of from 1980 till 1986. Who else would have dared play the Colas Breugnon back in 1983? Nobody but Meade.

  • @menthar 1982 to 1988. Our directors prioritized audience appeal which is why we would never do anything unrecognizable. We took a big chance doing West Side Story because it alienated most of our fellow student support since many of them were unfamiliar with the musical (lower-middle class students). They on the other hand loved Flashdance. It was entertainment to the people we played for.

I do love Appalachian Spring and Wind and the Lion.

  • As a member of that band, I will not debate either. In fact I enjoy seeing the Meade County and North Hardin shows more than this one.

Try telling a member of Columbia in 1980/81 why they should settle for placing behind Franklin!

It is like comparing apples and oranges. I wonder how some of the traditional jive style marching bands would compare. Try telling some of our "African American" members they have to perform something classical.

  • While the marching is solid, the music sounds terrible. Typical sound from Johnny Overblow. Your music was no match for the best sounding band of the 80's, the Meade County HS marching band. Don't even think about debating this one. You'll just sound like a retard.
