That's a very good point regarding the fact that in almost all cases, the ego-mind-defense-mecanism picks up the teaching and uses it to its own end thus perpetuating that from which we were looking to be freed.

Those people that did-not attempt to escape the connection with other people by running into the wilderness were the ones to write the old religious doctrines. Also if people learned the truth organized religion would of lost members so think of the strategy to maximize membership for those religious groups,
