This is a video drum lesson demonstration of the 7 stroke roll. The 7 stroke roll is one of the 40 standard drum rudiments and is made up of seven strokes played between your left and right hands.

In this video the roll is being played on a snare drum. The technique for this drum roll is very simple.

The standard sticking for this drum rudiment is:
RRLLRRL.

This rudiment can be alternated and should be practiced starting with both your left and right hands. Remember to start out slowly and gradually build up your speed for best results. Concentrate on playing seven nice even strokes before trying to play fast.
