  • @BikerDu06 Yes, a CVT changes the gear ratio in a certain limit, a IVT has no limit. Sure, the battery wont empty totaly, but you have no power from the electric Motor, because the battery wont put out any juice at this charge level, so you have only the V6 that drives the car. And because the generator is charging the battery, you're power output is dramatically reduced. That means more fuel is burned up then you realy use, and so on. That's because a hybrid uses more fuel on HWY.

  • @NFreund What I meant is it's almost impossible to get the battery empty, under the minimum battery level the gas engine will charge the battery as much as possible as soon as you release the accelerator. You will never get an empty battery while driving, even fast. My father owns a prius, the battery never gets under 2/10 even on mountain roads or sports driving.

What do you mean by infinitely variable transmission? Any differences between it and a CVT?(Continuous Variable Transmission)

  • @weeehgee Okay you keep dreaming

  • i raced my friends gs450h in 1/4 mile and beat it by 3 car lengths. it is not faster than 335i.

  • @CC8sX06 Bmw is too beasty they had to regulate it by limiting it, the chip just unleashes the stock performance... It is still stock just without a mommy

  • @weeehgee agree

  • @NFreund theres a motor generator for this purpose and kinetic energy is converted to electricity when you brake. therefore, i believe the electricity is regenerative but to what extent it can hold under prolong hard acceleration i am not sure. the GS450h on the contrary uses the CVT. you are right about the 0-100kmh figures but it doesnt mean the performance for 0-160kmh or 260kmh is the same. the top end at 200kmh above for lexus looks obviously more lively than the bmw.

  • @BikerDu06 You know, i work for Lexus/Toyota ;) Empty batterys changes everything, because then the electric motor does not give any power. The Toyota/Lexus does not have a CVT gearbox, it's aInfinitely Variable Transmission. It's the same as in the Prius and the RX450h. If the battery reaches nearly empty, the electric engine is turned into a generator and powers only the batterys. Oh, and the BMW takes 5,5 seconds to 60 mph, the GS 5,9. Something is definatly wrong in this vid.

  • @NFreund Second, for the 0-100, the gas engine doesn't reach it max power until about 60 km/h and the CVT system prevents the engine to give any power under 30 km/h which explain the difference.

And third the Lexus is not supposed to be a racing car at all. On the contrary a 3.5 Liters in a '3' BMW may indicate a sportive aim.

You could also see that the Lexus beats a W12 about 6 Liter Audi A8, in the same car category.

The BMW is also much more smaller and lighter...
