1927 Theatre Company: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
1927s multiple award winning theatrical cabaret cleverly combines live music, performance and storytelling with films and animations. Using the aesthetic of silent film a series of comic vignettes unfold in which the performers interact with the animations. Hapless cats, marauding gingerbread men and cross dressing devils all make an appearance, not to mention the sinister twins and their misfortunate guests.
The show has been compared to Shockheaded Peter, David Lynch and Edward Gorey with the charms of Weimeir cabaret. 1927s world is, however, unique to their own highly crafted sensibilities, Barritt and Andrades unified vision creating a delicately deadly delight.
Mae rhai wedi cymharu cwmni theatr 1927 gyda Shockheaded Peter, David Lynch, Edward Gorey gyda bach o ddylanwad cabaret Weimar, ac mae cabaret y cwmnin cyfuno cerddoriaeth fyw, perfformiadau ac adrodd straeon gyda ffilm ac animeiddio. Gan ddefnyddio estheteg ffilmiau mud mae cyfres o vignettes comig yn datblygu, gydar perfformwyr yn rhyngweithio gydar animeiddio. Gyda chathod anlwcus, dynion sinsir ac ambell ddiafol syn trawswisgo, heb sôn am yr efeilliaid sinistr âu gwesteion anlwcus.
I saw The Animals and the Children Took to the Streets, absolutely loved it and would have gone to watch it again had it not sold out. Cleverly funny, highly recommended.
