Camino a Emaús: this is the title of a Hispanic Bible conference being organized by the American Bible Society and the University of Notre Dame, to take place in the American state of Indiana from July 30th to August 1st.The Word of God and Latino Catholics is the theme that will gather Bible scholars who will explore and promote Gods Word, with a particular focus on the Bible in Latinos lives.Cardinal Francis George, president of the United States Episcopal Conference, will open the event on July 30th with a reflection on the Synod on the Word of God that took place in Rome in October 2008.The encounter, which will be held at the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism, also features presentations of exegetes and theology professors from several faculties of the U.S. and Mexico.The conference also includes the participation of spirituality scholars and musicians, such Sr. Glenda from Spain. Archbishop Nikola Eterović, General Secretary of the Synod, will give a presentation on Benedict XVIs thinking on the Bible in light of the Synod. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, D.C. will also attend the event.During the three days of the conference a special exhibit called The Bible in the New World can also be seen, featuring rare Bibles in Spanish, Portuguese, English, and the native languages of the Americas.The Congress is intended for Hispanic Catholics, but it is open to all Christian denominations.
