@bookaddict2000 The german patriotic song your thinking of, was based off God Saved the King/Queen. Not the other war around. God Save the King/Queen was the original song with this melody.

Not Quite! Both the tune of "God Save the Queen" and "My Country tins of Thee" are based on a Germanic Patriotic song. The song "My country tis of thee" was originally called "America" and the man who wrote the lyrics was a Baptist minister named Samuel Smith, who had never heard the song "God Save the Queen"

I wish you British people will stop complaining about how usa stole it. I mean our orgins come from mostly Britain because we were mostly british colonies before yall neglected us then tried to tax us to a point where we could not feed our families. USA technically won the war because Britain gave up, and the last time i checked...the winner in war can do whatever we want. At the end of the day Britain and the USA are sister countries now...so lets just celebrate each other
