  • I was just wondering how "The hip drop" got to hear about the S**t Kingz? Was it due to their youtube following? Or was it down to their competition placements or word of mouth from others? I would find this very helpful if you could answer this as I think it would help people in their personal promotion. Thank you.

  • @MrJackBourne What an interesting question. The story is: A Japanese friend back in late 2007 told me to check their 1st show on youtube. I did & it just got me very interested. She also told me that they were good teachers despite the fact that 2 members dont speak english.I keept following their work&knew in my heart I would want to bring them out when the timing was right. So I followed their shows&work up until their 6th show in 2009 & then I felt NOW is the time. And I contacted them :)

  • @MrJackBourne As for personal promotion. What catches TheHipDrop/my eye varies a lot. I often travel to L.A.to experience classes with some of the teachers I bring. Just to be there&feel the vibe. And then I know who I would love to bring. But then there´s exceptions like in the case of S**t Kingz, & certain people I have brought out. Where it could be based on the work I see on youtube, and then I will ask the dancers I know very well to get feedback on the person as a teacher.

  • i always wondered how dancers support themselves. Can anyone answer this question?

If they are in the studio rehearsing from midnight to 6am and maybe sleeping a couple of hours in the morning, how do they earn money for rent and food and etc.? Does the income from teaching classes really cover their expenses? How are they able to travel to so many countries to teach class? Are these expenses covered by whoever brings them over (the host of the workshops)?

  • @hackerlady I cant answer for all the dancers/choreographers out there, but most of the people.....at least the ones I bring to The Hip Drop lives out of their dancing. They get payed to teach, do shows, maybe do video choreography or choreography for others. Some dance in music videos, or TV shows or commercials. Some go on tour with different artists. And yes as organisors we pay for the teachers flight, hotel/stay, their fee, and most of the time food etc.
