Gangotri - This stunning quick march was judged as the best quick march during the Army Band Competition held in the year 1976 and received the "Lawrence D' Mello Shield". It was composed by Subedar Major Bachan Singh Negi, the band master of Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre. Gangotri is also the name of a glacier in the Himalayas.

  • Garhwal Rifles is one of the most killer regiments in the whole wide world having only the fiercest and the most die-hard soldiers the entire history of mankind has ever seen. The unshakable Garwali Soldiers have done us proud time and again. May this fighter streak always be with you. BADRI VISHAL KI JAI!

  • BOLO BADRIVISHAL LAL KI JAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

  • My great-uncle, Captain Ben Sparrow, was a company commander of the 1st/39th Garwhal Rifles, and killed at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle in 1915. My uncle has an oil painting of him in full uniform, and a copy of the regimental history printed around 1922, when the Indian Army was reduced, and renumbered.

I am glad to see that the fine traditions established then are still going strong!
