They all have to be very cautious about what they suggest, I've found lots of information on google sites that say clove oil is fine, while others say not after 6 months.
Herbs and essential oils can't ethically be tested on tiny babies and pregnant women very easily, so there isn't much research available, and most of those recommendations are purely opinions without research to back it up (same as my opinion).
Again, research & choose what you are comfortable with.
Just because something isn't recommended doesn't mean it doesn't work. You get a lot of mixed advise for everything baby related, learn all of your options and make your own decision. If a baby was in baby, I'd put clove oil on before medicating.
Edit:
Others say not *before* 6 months, which is when teething *often* starts.

I didn't say it wouldn't work, I said it wasn't recommended for babies on the bottle!
There are lots of essential oils that should NOT be used on babies.
I've googled clove oil, some sites say don't use in pregnancy and for young babies Some say dilute with a carrier oil.

I looked into natural remedies for teething and in Boots the clove oil wasn't recommended for babies. It is quite strong and aromatic

Teething - wet face cloth straight from the freezer
Teething - also try cloves, as they are natural numbers.
Bathing - add lavender to the muslin with oats for a nice sleep.
