Patent-pending Whirlwind™ table saw emergency blade brake is a simple device which can be easily and inexpensively incorporated into production or retrofitted to millions of existing saws. The Whirlwind differs from all previous table saw blade guards, with a built-in "electronic fence." A proximity detector immediately shuts down the saw motor and stop the blade, without damage, in one-eighth of a second — before the operator can contact the spinning blade. The saw can be restarted almost immediately. Patent pending table saw safety systems developed for the bench top Makita and Delta, Rigid, Powermatic models include integrated saw dust removal. Available for assignment or license from www.whirlwindtool.com.

  • All normal cuts can be made including non-through and dado cuts. Use the alternate mount for non-through cuts to eliminate the splitter. David.

  • But I thought that with Sawstop, if the emergency stop fired, you had to buy a new blade. Is that no longer true? Let me put it this way, if the Sawstop emergency stop triggers, what does it cost you?

  • @jmshepherd1490 Sawstop

  • @soltup1 Sawstop...

  • I look forward to retrofitting existing equipment with this. Is there an ETA?

  • Is this technology available yet?

  • Great Idea David. I wish you great success. I would be interested in a demo of how to use the alternate mount in cutting sheet goods or making dado cuts. I would probably be in line to purchase when it comes to market. Again good luck.

  • I still think cheater sticks are the best safety device. I'd have to continually remove and replace this thing from the tablesaw during the course of the day. I do like the dust collection aspect of it, though.

  • How does this work when ripping plywood or using a dado blade?
