The first part of this clip shows a block of poplar which has been fabricated for me by a local cabinet maker to hold the vertical column of a camera jib arm - it is actually part of a rather dodgy old lighting boom which I am modifying for the part and more details and video will follow.

The block is attached to the top of a 4" lazy susan to give me the horizontal (pan) control, and in further videosI will show how that attaches to the tripod.

The second part of this clip shows one of four rotating wheel mounts made from oak - again by my local cabinet maker Stuart, and consists of two roller blade wheels per mount at a 90 degree angle to each other to run along pipe laid on the floor. These wheels are bolted into the wood using M8 coach bolts. The block is fixed to a 4" lazy susan to allow for the curvature of the tracking.

In future videos, I will show the assembly of the wheel mounts to the base unit and how it runs along track.

It is vital that hardwoods are used for the production of any of this equipment as softwoods such as pine will just fall apart and be dangerous.

The lazy susans were purchased via a well known internet auction site from user caseyswood who has these as a stock item - he also sells them in a 3" version.
