  • @sondano No, JJ got Nimoy's approval of the script before he even started the movie. If he was really against it they probably wouldn't have done it, or Nimoy would not have participated in the film. And information had been around before 2009, it's just that nobody really looked into it until it became relevant. Gene Roddenberry even once had a relationship with Nichelle Nichols in the 60s, kept on the down low. She even made a song called "Gene" and performed it at his funeral.

  • @Chacha5678 the problem with that is that he made those comments AFTER JJ Trek had been made. Don't you think that if there had been such plans in the 60s when TOS scripts were actually written we would have heard about them in the following 40 years and not just in 2009 when they somehow had explain why Spock and Uhura acted like they never did before? Obviously since Nimoy is in the movie he couldn't say ""this is complete bullshit", and he is too much of a gentleman for that anyway.

  • I can't watch 0:52 in the film without laughing, now

  • @sondano I'll admit I'm no huge Star Trek geek, but even I was able to find this info quite easily. Nimoy comments on it in a youtube video called "IGN Star Trek Interview with Leonard Nimoy" and you'll find more about Spock/Uhura in TOS from star trek fan forums. It's an interesting topic to me, so I've looked through quite a bit of them. Spock/Uhura didn't come entirely out of left field. Basically, if it weren't for network censors, it could have been a possibility.

  • @Chacha5678 who said it? Roddenberry? Justman? Where when? Name the source cause google sure doesn't come up with any such interview nor can you find it in Nimoy's own books and if anyone he should have known don't you think so?

  • @sondano lol the creators of star trek said it. google it, it's been said in interviews

  • @greengrendel well, blame spock's dad for saying he loved his wife, in this reality, lol

  • i laughed so hard at the rolling of the eye part. im crying

  • wow this is so addicting!

  • @Ravenholdt1

Correction. Spock and Uhura were supposed to kiss in Plato's Stepchildren, but Shatner felt that it'd be more poignant to have a real human white male character doing it instead to break the interracial barrier. Spock and Uhura held a more mentor-like relationship according to Nichols.
