im sorry but this song is not about war. This song is about freedom, and escape from an all consuming society. Its a shame that this video (while of incredible production quality) is used to portray such an amazing song, and its a greater shame that fans of Eddie Vedder are arguing about a song that is so pure and simple.

Dear Society, We the people are not at war. Labels have fooled you into believing greed driven policies are offical laws of the universe. The Universe cares not for your want or your police actions it does however like speed. Power to the People!

any artist knows that once the art has been created, it is no longer his- art belongs to the audience. The song may not be about war to you, but it might be for another....why should that be a shame? perhaps you have a great awakening in your future when you realize there are far many more perspectives on life than simply your own

@ace1343 i kind of agree,but bear in mind this is not the official vid from this song,this is just a fan's own video.And as much as i hate war i find the clip very well made.For once we see the human side of those GIs,helps remind us they re just blokes like the rest of us.

The song may not be about war directly (as many have said) but society has become more and more defined by fear and greed... (crazy indeed!) and I for one think you've made a good job of visualizing this phenomenon. (for the record, I turn numbers into pictures for money)

@ace1343 "Society" is art & art is subjective = noone need buy yr manual, "Song Interpretation, The Only Way by ACE". U hear a Thoreau-esque song about escaping dystopia BUT so does the op, They r different in a concrete sense (yr literal movie message view vs his war as metaphor for society view.)not thematically. Alternate scenarios r not wrong but r DIFFERENT, both use ideas of "Power. Control." which u mention below. Evry1 think'n in lockstep = very Orwellian view of society. PEACE OUT!
