Ugh, FF7 wasn't that great of a game to deserve number 1...

My aunt that didn't know ANYTHING about video games bought me Star ocean: The second story for christmas. I love her long time. <3 lol You lost me at Super Mario RPG. The rest of your game choices sucked balls IMO except Chrono Trigger that game is epic. Not to say your oppinion doesn't count. I just prefer different titles. Everyone's top 10 is different.

I couldn't agree more with the top three. No really, I'm so happy I'm not sure what to say.
The original Suikoden was also fantastic. FF Tactics was spectacular in story and gameplay. Where I disagree with you is on KOTOR 2, as I feel the first game was superior and less buggy. The 2nd game's only improvement was the party member interaction (which was excellent). I'd toss in Fallout, Planescape: Torment, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and Baldur's Gate 2 for good measure. Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 also, for their choices and awesome party members.

@arkainjalex12 My KOTOR2 experience wasn't all that buggy (just one really bad one), although I've heard of other folks having more problems than I did. I rate KOTOR2 higher than the first game because it's a much deeper and more contemplative experience. KOTOR is a polished adventure title that builds to a big finish, but there are a lot of good RPGs like that, and so its only real claim to fame is that it was the first WRPG to truly succeed on a console. KOTOR2 means a lot more to me.

@arkainjalex In what might be another unpopular opinion, I actually prefer the original Mass Effect to the sequel, though it took me a while to realize it. ME2 took away the feeling of freedom and exploration that I relished from the original (fewer open spaces, the stronger cover shooter element, the plot and Illusive Man forcing you forward, no equipment to tinker with, no Mako). ME2 felt a bit too linear and maybe tries too hard at being cinematic. It's still good, of course.

@arkainjalex I liked VTM:B a lot. It's almost great, but not quite "one of the best RPGs ever" material for me. Planescape: Torment has superb writing, and the setup is interesting, but the combat is terrible. One of the best stories, but because I didn't like the combat, it doesn't crack my top faves. BGII I could never get into, partly because it uses the same combat system as Torment, and partly because the art style and setting is so bland. I haven't played Dragon Age.

@megavolt67 Since KOTOR2 is way underrated, I'll add that it has a better soundtrack, a darker and more interesting mood, it lets you play a Jedi right away, it has the prestige classes, it has more skills, and it has way more customization options. What KOTOR has over it is that the environment variety is better, it has a more epic finale, and overall it's more polished. Polish isn't everything, however. FFVI is buggier than FFX, but it's better where it matters more (substance).
