In 1917 a flagpole was erected at Five Points in Sarasota, Florida in honor of those who had served in the military during World War I. In 1954 that war memorial which was by that time honoring veterans of World War II and The Korean War as well, was moved down the road and many residents have felt ever since that something needed to be done at Five Points to honor our veterans. On Thursday November 11, 2010 a new monument was dedicated at Five Points following the Veterans Day Parade. This is a video of that dedication ceremony. Special thanks to Jeff LaHurd and the Historical Society of Sarasota County.
