I made this video for my students in Oklahoma History, U.S. History and Native American History classes. Since all the tribes in Oklahoma are here by the systematic removal it is important to look at the language that started the fiduciary relationship with the U.S. Motivations are a key factor in understanding how Oklahoma became a state and why the push for the State of Sequoyah may have been grounded in the understandings of the tribes first attempt to seek covenant with the new nation.
