The beginning process of teaching this mare to lie down. I have been working on this for about 3-4 weeks, a couple times a week now. She now lays down almost immediately with the word "down" and the body language you see. We are well on our way. :)
@Ponypal95 I just picked her favorite place to roll. And used a verbal cue paired with some sort of body language as she began to lie down. Then, I just reinforced it every time with her favorite treat. A carrot. :) Eventually, she just figured out what I wanted her to do and I could ask her to do it in other locations.
I'm thinking about teaching my 18 year old Saddlebred gelding to lay down & do otherr tricks since I've decided not to show him. Yesterday I taught him to rear up under saddle on command and he picked up on it right away. Do you have any advice for teaching him to lie down??
