I suppose the mouth and neck looks somewhat like a chest-burster, though lacking the secondary jaw inside.

The 1944 triptych piece by Francis Bacon - 'Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion' the last piece looks similar. Though Giger's was more metal/metallic looking the (mouth) more than face is a striking resemblance.

It sure was. :-) Isn't it funny this was decades before and the 'Triptich' collection Bacon did looks just like the HR Giger's Alien from 'Alien'.
