When I was 14 years old, I made a trip around Europe. All the trip has been registered in the Super 8mm format movie which has been converted to MPEG1 in the year 2000 so that it could fix in a 70 minutes VideoCD. The last place visited was Castelgandolfo,a small fiefdom of the Savelli situated on high ground above the Lake of Albano. It became a direct possession of the popes towards the end of the XVIth century. Pope Urbanus VIII selected it as the summer residence, a role which Castel Gandolfo still plays because the palace built in 1624 by Carlo Maderno, still belongs to the pope and enjoys the privilege of extraterritoriality. This small piece of the movie shows Pope Paulo VI ten years prior to his death.
