The first Sanatan Dharm math established in the 8th century by Adi guru Shankaracharya. The place where he had meditated and acquired knowledge and wisdom is a small Shiv temple under a large tree, The Kalpataru. The huts surrounding the temple area are of the priests. The Math where the sadhus and their disciple stayed is very big. The Upavan gives a spectacular sight to the math. All the sadhus on their way to Badrinath take refuge here. This is also the home of young disciples who stay here and gain knowledge of The Vedas.
