A number of 500 series sets have been reduced to 8 cars and run on Kodama (all stations) services between Hakata and Shin-Osaka on the Sanyo Shinkansen. Here, a Hikari Rail Star train (series 700-7000) passes at around 285km/h. Filmed at 720p with the Canon 500D

  • Kodama runs? The 500 was designed for speeds up to 300km/h making it faster than the 700.

  • @4izm0v Yep, the 500 series was on a Kodama run.

Several 500 series trains have been reduced to 8 car sets. They also now run at 285km/h maximum on Kodama runs. N700 trains have taken over most Nozomi services.

  • @nadnerb2k I was questioning the logic of using the 500 series for Kodama runs, I was not doubting the video. I could tell it was a Kodama run because it was overtaken by a Hikari Rail Star. It just doesn't make sense to me why would they do that?

  • @4izm0v I 100% agree with you there. You'd have to ask them, I have no idea! I mean they still had some Nozomi trains being run by 300 series sets - why use 300 series on nozomi and 500 on kodama??
