  • GENIOOOOOOOOOO!!!...

  • I think he's just listening, moving sequentially and the rhythmic and melodic composition. It sounds like free jazz to me although Steve might disagree. The composition style of Steve Coleman from what I've read is that he will go into the studio with ideas and fragments of songs that come together probably like this- with some input from the musicians and a mix of strict composition and free (smart) improvising

  • Wonderful!

Thanks a lot for this informations! I hope that I'll can free me from debt.

    Thanks very much

  • Ornette did develop a system its called "harmolodics", and it's really hard to explain. He's never written a book about it or anything, apparently he just explains it to his band members. There's a pretty good explanation of it in the book Ornette Coleman: His Life and Music.. It's not by Ornette himself, but it's a pretty good interpretation.

  • Thanks so much!!!

    You are extremely kind!!

  • sorry I don't think Ornette Coleman really has a concept except to play the exact same way that he feels. Actually I didn't talk to her on how she is learning it. I am learning the beginning of his essays on his own site. w w w . m - b a s e . c o m / s y m m e t r i c a l _ m o v e m e n t . h t m l.

  • Oh cool!

Is there some books about this concept??

Can you tell me what your friend has studied (books, video, web pages...)?

I'm studing "Harmonic Experience" by W.A.Mathieu, it's a new kind of studing harmony for me and I didn't found something that talks about this system in italian language (I'm Italian...what an effort!!!)..I'm looking for something that talk about the music of Ornette Coleman because I can't understand this kind of playing..

    Thank so much!!

    Have a nice day!

  • no ! there is an harmonic sense to his playing. He developed a concept : Symmetric Movement Concept. My friend is learning bits of it and shit she sounds crazy now ! (she's 19)

  • you 're extremely kind!
