Tari Topeng, that is Mask Dance, and it is traditional dance from Java, Cirebon. The dancer's masks symbolize the different phase in one's life from birth to adulthood.

  • Hi bluishskin. Appreciate your comment, you are in right. If it could be an excuse, I am not Indonesian. I'll correct the text later, OK?

  • the person who played the kendang is ua Mamat right? HE'S THE BEST!!!!! but the dancing... VERY MUCH IMPROVABLE.. should be.

  • doesnt mather wich part from indonesia for me and what its tell story but this such a arts and this kind thing must be keep in continue until forever

  • Please be careful when adding an information about this dance.

Instead "from Java, Cirebon", it should be "from Cirebon, West Java". It needs to be exact to avoid misinterpretation especially from foreigners or anybody who's not familiar with this dance and Indonesia.

This video only shows the Klana Mask Dance. Therefore, the mask ONLY symbolises the adulthood, and it also symbolises the greedy, mean, and arrogant character of a king, similar to the character Ravana in Ramayana.
