This is an update on my third year engineering project.
It can now follow corridors/walls using only a LIDAR sensor!!!

The aim of the project is to be able to navigate around a block of buildings unaided using both a LIDAR sensor and GPS.

A little about the robot:
The chassis is an old bomb disposal robot.
It is controlled from a laptop (coded in VB) and a AX3500 RoboteQ controller.

(P.S. It can move a lot faster than shown in the video!)

  • Where did you get the chassis?

  • From a company called Remotec in the UK.

It is a very old chassis that they were trying to get rid of.

  • Good job. Where did you get the vb code for the Roboteq controller? Do you know where I can download a sample copy? Thks!

  • Thanks!

I will PM you the details

  • great work man.. robot looks very nice and well constructed. would really love to do something like that ;)

    i will send you a message :)

  • neat. What Lidar sensor did you use? I'd like to look up the specs and price on it. Did the LIDAR sensor come with drivers and make it fairly easy to interact with?

  • nice job ... cant claim to understand the workings but seems to work pretty well ... how fast can it actually move

  • this is cool!
