Whow, that Nepalese experience sounds like.......like.....the top of the world-what a way to experience old school santana! Carlos does seems to have gone from best-to better-to .....? growing older. Happens to a lot of my favorites, how about Phill Collins then (Genesis) and now/later (commercial)! Does anyone paly the Lotus album by Santana-a live comp. from Japan. A great set of all that great jazz rock fusion!

Most `people grow with age and experience, Carlos seems to have gone the other way!! It astonishes me that somebody can create this masterpiece and then come up with the simplistic duets that have been regurgitated over the past 10 years. I guess that he’s giving the masses what they want.

The lineup on this album is a who’s who of creative music. Jules Broussard on sax, the vocals of Lean Patillo and Flora Purim, the amazing percussion of Shrieve, Peraza, Airto Moreira and Areas, together with the slick organ of Costa and Stanley Clarke on bass.

This is without doubt Carlos best work, ahead of LDS, Welcome, Illuminations and Caravanserai. Borboletta is deep, mystical, sophisticated and complex. It transcends culture and ethnocentric idiosyncrasy, to elevate music to a higher dimension.
