In this tutorial we show you how to trigger your synth line with the signal from your bassline using 2 different methods!

In the first method, we use the sidechain input from Ableton Live's gate, and in the second method we reverse the Sidechain function on the compressor to get it pumping your synth line in time with your bassline!

  • could you simply sidechain the compressor version to the Sylenth?

  • DUDE-- YOU ARE A STARRRRR!!! I jus tried what you said and it worked!!

I went into my mixer for my sound card and muted the "Line in" , the "stero mix" and the "cd volume" inputs and now i got no interference or duplication or anything jus my vocals trecord over tyhe track!! YAYYYYYYYYY your the only one whos helped me with this.. THANKKK YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!---

  • yer that sounds morte like the problem dude.. ill try it out see if i can alter it somewhere ..should i be altering something on my main ableton screen? could i send you a scrreen shot of my screen to an email?

  • @StephenDeadToLife You probably figured it out already, but just to help whoever might have the same problem - I think you have your soundcard set to "what you hear" instead of "mic". If so it's recording everything that's audible, including your vocals. I'm not sure how you'd get the mic working that way though. "what you hear" is great for sampling audio straight into Ableton, but you have to set the channel's monitor to "off" or you'll get the same insane feedback.

  • hahahaaha whats a git?

  • @mexicanstorm hey dude, thanks for the help but its more of a problem recording along side listening to the track/having it play at the same time.. what happens is, i put togther thr track, have it exact,y how i wanted (recorded, but then when i try to layer vocals on top using a mike, it also records the track so i get this terrible double ((with about 2 secs delay) track and it all distorts :-(

  • @StephenDeadToLife If I understand you correctly, you're using a microphone to record with and when you click "in" on the track you want to record to, you get loud feedback? If this is the case, it is because you're using speakers, it causes feedback because your microphone picks up noise which is amplified through the speakers, but the mic picks that up too so it starts feeding back. What you need to do is turn your speakers off and use headphones while recording.
