Alas!

I beg you, leave me!

  • I loved the verse, and I love the opera. But DAMN, Onegin is everything Lenskii called him: without honor and a seducer. His friend the general tells Evgenii how much he loves his wife, and what does the SOB do? Tries to take her from him!

The man is a SLEAZE. Never did understand what Tatiana sees in him.

  • @GarisMom Obviously, Tatiana is the hero of the story, yet Onegin is not as one-dimensional as may seem.

  • Its absolute joy to watch this. Such a great peace. Thank you for posting.

  • I remember crying when I saw this for the first time

  • @khlopovstan Well said. I've given it some thoughts, too. I think the problem with their romance was that they weren't really in love with each other. Tatiana, as a young girl, fell in love with the idea of love (the idea she got from her reading), while Onegin was the kind of person who wanted the one he couldn't have, the one that got away (see how he got all fired up AFTER he heard about her marriage). Things never would have worked out between them, then or now.

  • Muchas gracias por compartir...

  • oh my dmitry hvorostovsky, how wonderful you are!
