Gew 88 Commission Rifle 7.92x57mm Mauser

Shooting the Gew 88. Made in Danzig in 1890. It is 121 years old and still shoots as good as the day it was issued.
Using Remington 8mm Mauser 180gr Corelokt SP.

i have both 98 and com Gew88,.......88 has a smoother action. much nicer weapon.

That is the Mannlicher (88) vs. Mauser (98) action.

I do agree though. The 88 is wonder to use.

Not half bad. I was able to get grounds around 3" at 100 yards. Pretty good for something that is 120 years old and has been through two world wars.

Gew 88 is short for Gewehr 1888 which is also know as the 1888 Commission rifle. It was the standard issue rifle of Germany from 1888 to 1898. The introduction of the Gew 98 (what we know as the Mauser) slowly fazed out the Gew 88.
