I'd consider the original one ska not reggae. Most of the Maytalks stuff is ska. The Clash version rocks, but it's not very different from the original. I don't know how you can like one and not the other. I also don't see how you can fully appreciate the Clash without liking at least some ska and reggae since that's some of their main influences.

You're aware Orwell was a socialist who fought in the Spanish Civil War with the Marxist POUM, right? Animal Farm is not criticizing 'communism', it's criticising the ways the Bolsheviks tried to implement socialism in Russia. Like most leftists, he was a critic of the USSR for betraying the revolution. Read 'Homage to Catalonia', and you'll see "Orwell's vision" was a socialist one.
