If you see Siskel & Ebert's Full screen rant, they mentioned that the picture of the full screen version is cropped on both sides with pan-and-scan in some cases, if the movie is shot in widescreen that is. There are some older films and shows that were shot in full screen prior to the 1950's like the Wizard of Oz and the Star Trek shows for example, and that's fine by me. But if the movie was shot in widescreen, I recommend the widescreen versions for the most picture.
