Bouncing Snowman (Pixar Demo Reel)

Demo reel for Pixar internship application.

The Snowman is a short I made in early 2011. I designed and coded everything: storyline, character models, lighting, animation, rendering. I wrote a ray tracer in C++ from scratch to render 3-D images, and then created animations by writing Python scripts to automatically generate inputs to the ray tracer for each frame in the scene. The motion of the snowman is described by mathematical functions that smoothly interpolate between poses, and the motion of the ball is based on simulated particle dynamics.

@FoxyFlubDub There are two types of animators -- character and FX. Character animators produce the acts the characters participate in, and FX animators are a bit more technical and do things such as fire, smoke, water, dust kicked from the ground, etc.

@FoxyFlubDub he's most likely using maya buddy, oh and if u really wanna become good at animation and get into Pixar someday I suggest looking into the online school animation mentor. Its a great school! Hope your dreams come true bud. Best of luck:)

thanks for this, im 13 and ive decided i want to be a pixar animator when im older, ive never been brilliant at drawing but my computer skills are decent, i live in england so id have to move country to work at pixar but nothing will stop me doing my dream job, can you please tell me what program you used for the snowman animation and if you know what the different types of animators there are, please tell, thanks :)
