Welcome to the 2011 Machinima Expo.

The Expo is a community led festival, which is designed to promote the work of independent film makers, and dedicated hobbyists who dedicate their precious spare time to creating original animation pieces made using real time animation tools, in other words...Machinima.

When the festival began in November, 2008, Second Life provided a natural meeting place for the international crowd who make up our diverse band of creators. Last year, we expanded further by broadcasting this event live on the web. For the first time attendees could participate directly from their browser and we were delighted to attract many more viewers in addition to those who could be accommodated in a virtual world setting.
Building on this success, 2011 sees a larger staff of volunteers, working year round to bring a hand picked selection of quality machinima to a wider audience. This year, we are delighted to partner with The New Media film festival, an organisation which aims to "Honor Stories Worth Telling"
and celebrates the global use of new technology to share ideas in film. We are delighted that through this alliance an even broader range of viewers will be exposed to the energetic and innovative world of grass roots film making.

We invite you to kick back and enjoy over 11 hours of thought provoking, emotionally charged and hilarious footage. Be surprised, educated and entertained, and remember, this is a democratic media
which is open to anyone with a games capable machine and a bucket full of determination..if you have been inspired by what is on show....why not have a go yourself and we'll see you in 2012!
