$350,000 (the amount buried under the Big W) adjusted for inflation, is about $2,200,000.00 in 2011 dollars, so I see why they were so eager to get it!!
Given the original cut of Mad World was over 5 hours, it seems that a several plot lines were cut out in order to get to 3 1/2 hours. Andy Devine, Roy Roberts and Stan Freberg receive higher billing in the opening credits than some stars with clearly larger parts. Devine's billing is higher that Peter Falk. Can anybody shed any light on the possible sub plot with Cockett County Sheriff Dept/chase scenes?
@johnsmileyjr Note that at :39 you can hear Stan Freberg doing a voiceover. Stan was in the film -- but sadly for only a few seconds in the police station!
I really like the way they maintain their characters personalities for the commercials. The time they spent from receiving their scripts to the night of the opening HAD to have been the best times of their lives!
