actually i'm pretty sure its not water , i think it's some kind of very addictive drug .
And for the yellow stuff on this head , its to make him okay for TV , because , his brain is open with string , electronics and plugs .
Stop testing on animals

Soon we'll have completely robotic monkeys!!!
-
This monkey is my hero. The look on his face says it all.. Complete technician.
-
they deprive them of water...dehydrate them.. i hate the human race
-
this is fucking disgusting.. nazi bastards should be eliminated bc they are so evil
-
@cowboydiver87 Me? Bacon? No sir you have me mistaken
-
"the reward for each turn of the handle, a drink o water" and if it doesnt turn the handle it gets no water
-
To all you naive PETA-freaks: GO TO HELL!!!
This is scientific progress at its best and worth the temporary (if any) suffering of a single monkey. And if this technology will one day get your crippled ass back up and moving then perhaps you whould appreciate the work being done here.
btw, If you knew were your bacon comes from you wouldn't worry about this monkey at all.

This is extremely upsetting, seeing this poor monkey locked down like that. & desperate to do something for a drop of water = abuse
animal testing is so very wrong ;/

Normally I'm not particularly much of an animal rights activist, and I understand that this invention could indeed benefit many people, but this just made me really upset. Surely depriving the monkey of water is animal abuse? It looked so sad :(

"While the research is primarily a joint venture between Johns Hopkins and DARPA, the project will tap multiple institutions for varying forms of expertise. The University of Pittsburgh (who have already implanted monkeys with sensors to control robot arms) and CalTech will help with brain-computer interface design."
