Iowa City Spillway

UPDATE (6/10/2008; 10:31 pm): At about 8:30 pm on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008, the water behind the spillway spilled over. This will add to the already major flooding in Iowa City.

A video of the Iowa City Spillway on Sunday, June 8th, 2008. The water was very high and only 1-2 feet from spilling over, which would cause major flooding in Iowa City. It's expected to spill over on Tuesday, June 10th, 2008. The spillway only has spilled over once before, and that was in the Flood of 1993, which occured all over the midwest. The flood was said to be "the 100 year flood", but this year is expected to be worse for Iowa City than 1993. In the video, you can see how high the water was in 1993 at 0:21. The water went up to the blue squiggly line on the sign. At the end, you can see some severe weather moving in to the north.
